The Corporations’s Activity

The Israel Government Tourist Corporation (IGTC) is the executive agent of the Ministry of Tourism for the implementation of its policy for infratructure development.

The IGTC is a “budgeted government corporation” and its budget is defined in the budget law. Its actions are supervised by a board of directors through various committees, e.g., budget and balance, tenders, planning and administration.

The IGTC is a four branch company. The planning division is in charge of initiating and planning projects. The operations division is in charge implementing them. The budget department has the responsibility for organising the budget for each project. The treasury is in charge of the cash flow. All the branches participate in defining the program for each project.

The corporation works in close contact with other public agencies and with central and local government, thus extending the direct development budgets allocated by the Ministry of Finance, forwarded to the development of touristic infrastructure.

The Goals and Aims of the Corporation.

  • Development of public infrastructure for the tourist industry that will serve as a basis and trigger for the private sector.


  • Initiation and implementaion of regional and local planning that will produce tourism plans of higher standards.


  • Coordination between the various governmental and public agencies involved in the development of plans related to tourisim, such as government ministries, local government, the Jewish National Fund, The National Parks and Nature Preservation Authority and the Antiquities Authority.


  • Development of infrastructure for the tourist industry in new and unique sectors.


  • Development of new tourist sites accessible to people with physical impairments and furthering this commitment by necessary adjustments to existing sites.
